You're hiring for AI fluency. You have no way to measure it.

VibeWorks Hire is a 30-minute work simulation built from the actual role, where using AI is the point. See how every candidate prompts, delegates, verifies, and decides. Read the same way, for everyone.

  • Built from the real job
  • AI use encouraged: that's the skill
  • Same scenario, same standard, every candidate
  • Human-in-the-loop, always
Example VibeWorks hiring assessment for candidate Maya Bennett, a Senior Recruiter: an Advanced VibeWorks Index of 7.1 out of 10, a per-dimension breakdown against the role median, and the assessor's written debrief.

The problem

On every other assessment, using AI gets you flagged. On ours, it's the job.

"Proficient with AI" is on every résumé now. And none of it is verified. Your interview can't see how someone works with a model. Your take-home gets quietly handed to ChatGPT. And the tools that promise to fix it respond by policing AI like contraband: proctoring, plagiarism flags, surveillance. That measures compliance, not capability. The skill you're hiring for is how well a person works with AI. And the only way to see it is to watch them do the real work.

What you have today

Claims and gut reads.

Résumé lines, a feel from the interview, and a take-home you can't trust anymore.

What the market offers

Quizzes and surveillance.

Trivia about AI, and anti-AI proctoring bolted onto assessments built for a pre-AI world. Candidates notice. And the good ones walk.

What you actually need

The real work, AI included.

A simulation of the actual job, AI included, read against the same standard for every candidate.

How it works

The real job, in a controlled scenario.

Every candidate steps into the same scripted work scenario, built from the role: a recruiter takes over a colleague's hiring debrief; an AI assistant is there to help. The scenario deliberately plants the problems real work throws up: a confident claim the AI can't back, a buried piece of conflicting evidence.

  1. 01

    The same real scenario

Scripted, role-based, with planted problems. Same conditions for everyone: that's the fairness, and it's what makes results comparable.

  2. 02

A live read of the work

A model reads how the candidate worked, their judgment across the five dimensions, with a one-line rationale for each score.

Planted problem in view
A suggestion chip planting a discernment trap: 'Is the $340k comp figure reliable?'
A confident-but-unsourced figure, planted the same way for every candidate. We score whether they catch it in the work.

Using AI isn't cheating. Outsourcing your judgment is.

The assessment is built to tell the difference.

What the hiring team receives

A read you can actually defend.

Not a pass/fail. Every candidate gets a band, a 0–10 on each of the five dimensions with a one-line rationale, what they did well, and where they'd grow. The same instrument, applied the same way, for everyone you assess.

  • De

    Description

How clearly they direct the AI.

  • Dl

    Delegation

What they route to AI, and what they keep human.

  • Ds

    Discernment

Catching what the AI got wrong.

  • Dg

    Diligence

Verifying against the source, not trusting the summary.

  • Dv

    Delivery

A decision that holds up to scrutiny.

Every candidate lands on a five-level scale

  1. Novice
  2. Functional
  3. Proficient
  4. Advanced
  5. Native

Routes drafting and synthesis to the AI, keeps the judgment calls human.
Discernment
8.1
Flagged the planted, unsourced claim and asked for the evidence behind it.
Diligence
7.2
Verified the high-stakes figure against the source records; lighter checks on drafts.
Delivery
8.0
Turned the session into a clear, defensible recommendation.

Did well

Directs the model precisely and checks it where it counts, and AI work becomes shipped, defensible output.

Where they'd grow

Diligence: extend source-level verification to lower-stakes drafts, not just the headline claim.

VibeWorks is decision-support, not a verdict. Every assessment keeps a human in the loop: it informs your hiring team; it never auto-rejects. Scores are a developmental read, meant to inform a decision, not gate one.

The candidate experience

The only assessment candidates thank you for.

Most assessments extract value from candidates: hours of unpaid work for a rejection email. Yours gives it back. Every candidate finishes with a free VibeWorks account: their full fluency profile, a personalized read on their strengths and gaps across all five dimensions, and coaching to close them. Every candidate leaves your process better at the thing you assessed them on, including the ones you don't hire. They'll remember who did that for them.

A profile that's theirs to keep

Their fluency read, portable, not a score that dies in your ATS.

Coaching on their weakest dimension

Concrete next steps, not a form rejection.

FAQ

Questions hiring teams ask.

How is this different from a quiz about AI?

A quiz measures what someone knows about AI. This is a work simulation: the candidate does a realistic slice of the role with an AI assistant, and we read how they actually worked: what they directed, caught, verified, and decided.

Can a candidate just use AI to pass it?

That's the point. AI is part of the simulation by design: the assessment reads how they use it. Handing the whole task to the model and trusting its output is exactly what scores low.

What are the five dimensions, and how are they scored?

Description, Delegation, Discernment, Diligence, and Delivery: each scored 0–10 by a live model with a one-line rationale, plus an overall band from Novice to Native. Every candidate is read against the same rubric.

Does it auto-reject anyone?

No. VibeWorks is decision-support only: the report informs your hiring team, and a human always makes the call.

Where does it fit in our process, and does it work with our ATS?

Two placements work best: as a short screen at application, or as the take-home replacement later in the funnel. Results flow to your ATS.

What does the candidate see afterward?

Their full report: band, dimension scores, strengths, and growth areas, plus a free VibeWorks account with coaching to keep improving.

What about candidate data and privacy?

The assessment captures the work session only: prompts, checks, and decisions inside the scenario. Candidates see exactly what's recorded while they work, and their report belongs to them.

Can we measure the fluency of the team we already have?

Yes: the same five dimensions extend from hiring to the workforce you already have. See how VibeWorks measures your current team.
